Mesquitas

About

Mesquitas’ love for music manifested when he was about twelve years old and effortlessly mastered the guitar. He joined some different bands over the years, organising his own gigs and signing a record deal at Raging Grace Los Angeles. Despite best intentions, the deal did not work out as planned. Yet upon returning to The Netherlands in 2005, Rafa was all but beaten. He put his experience to work and hit the ground running. In those days, his acquaintance with EDM was love at first sight. Being stuck at home with a shattered knee, he traded in his guitars for DJ-gear. Unable to leave home, he spent 24/7 spinning records and producing tracks. He signed his first deal as a DJ in 2008 and has since played in 17 countries around the world, earning club residencies at Catwalk (Rotterdam), Fifties (Eindhoven), Rusty Nail (Aruba, and House of Music (Aruba). Suddenly, he was performing with Loco Dice, Paco Osuna, Pan Pot, Reboot, Neverdogs and many more world-class artists.

Played and charted by artists the likes of Loco Dice, Marco Carola, Ritchie Hawtin’, Stacey Pullen, Tale of Us and Carlo Lio, Mesquitas’ ominous minimal techno soon drew corporate attention. He has composed tracks to spice up marketing campaigns for brands such as TRX, Under Armour and Wella, and has proven to be more than just an artist: he’s a one man industry. Despite being A&R-manager at Proper Musique, proud owner of On the Couch Records, and hosting his very own radio show “Amsonica Radio” on Data Transmission, he has built an impressive catalogue of quality tracks under several aliases. With over 50 publications available both digitally and on vinyl, as well as six tracks charted in Beatport’s Top-100 and Top-10, Mesquitas is still tirelessly looking to score more tracks that will set the room on fire.

His remix of Shawn Jackson’s and Guti Legatto’s “Invictus,” a remix of “Ole Tech Vibes Volume 01,” released on Rone White’s and Alessandro Dirugierro’s “Old Skool EP,” his own EP “Name, Guts & Glory,” released on Tres 14 Music and Minimal Tech Beatport charter “Ole Men” for Ole Records are only a few tracks worth mentioning, but all the more reason to add Mesquitas to the top of your playlist.
